Sunbury Dental Clinic Offers Invisalign® System

The Invisalign® system is available in Sunbury. Made up of a sequential series of clear plastic teeth aligners and complex computer technologies, Invisalign® has been successful in numerous cases where teeth straightening and movement are required. Along with being unnoticeable, Invisalign® offers teeth movement that is more comfortable than ordinary braces. The Invisalign® system usually takes about a year to complete versus regular orthodontics, which takes 2 to 3 years to complete. There are several cases where Invisalign® cannot be used, including very crowded teeth or teeth that are not fully erupted. They are not and should not be considered to substitute for orthodontic treatment. However, Invisalign® systems are popular and many patients request them.
Consult your Sunbury dentist to see if you are a good candidate for Invisalign®. If your dentist feels that you are a good candidate after examining your mouth, your dentist will proceed with a detailed oral examination, including dental radiographs and study models. The models are then sent to the laboratory where a complex computer program will evaluate the models and the tooth movements required. A series of 12-48 clear plastic sequential aligners will be made and returned to the dental office. Your dentist will then help you to place your first aligner tray. This tray will snap over your teeth, but may feel that it doesn’t fit correctly. The aligners are fabricated to accurately fit your teeth when your teeth reach their new desired position. Shortly, your teeth move to the guided tray position and then are given time to rest, before the next tray is placed. This allows the bone surrounding the teeth to remodel and tighten your teeth. The whole procedure should take about a year. Your Sunbury dentist will want to see you once a month to see how you are progressing.
